Crater Lake
Crater Lake is widely known for its intense blue color and spectacular views. During summer, visitors may navigate the Rim Drive around the lake, enjoy boat tours on the lake surface, stay in the historic Crater Lake Lodge, camp at Mazama Village, or hike some of the park's various trails including Mt. Scott at 8,929 ft.
Lava Beds
Lava Beds National Monument is a land of turmoil, both geological and historical. Over the last half-million years, volcanic eruptions on the Medicine Lake shield volcano created an incredibly rugged landscape punctuated by cinder cones, lava flows, spatter cones, lava tube caves and pit craters.
Collier State Park
Collier Memorial State Park features a campground; outdoor museum of historic logging equipment; relocated pioneer village; and a new four-corral, primitive horse camp and trailhead. At the state's finest logging museum, you'll see rare and antique logging equipment dating to the 1880s, as well as more recent pieces (download the museum guide; requires Acrobat).
Migratory Birding
The Klamath Basin of Northern California and South Central Oregon is home to over 350 species of birds throughout the year. It is world famous for spectacular flocks of waterfowl on the lakes, rivers and nearby Klamath Basin National Wildlife Refuges. We're especially blessed to be home to the largest concentration of wintering Bald Eagles in the lower 48 states. The Winter Wings Festival coincides with the presence of wintering waterfowl and eagles, so that Festival participants can enjoy these magnificent birds on tours and learn more about them at workshops. The purpose of the Festival is to share information, increase awareness of community resources and gain an understanding of our wildlife resources, especially the birds of the Klamath Basin.
